Now this is not some sort of a cheap prophecy, but a firm belief that we all have our personal Anthems, which come in handy when things get a bit messy. Not that they are right now, but still ... :) So, here is mine in form of a free-flowing 3-chord composition inspired by the mighty Dolomites, where the snapshot was taken as well. There are moments of inspiration and then there are moments of mind b(ol)locks. :) I came up with this funkhee guitar riff when jamming recently with my brother. I recorded it right afterwards with a keyboard played bass line and some deadpan straight ahead drums to it. Not to mention the steel drums, of course. :) Then it was time to do some lyrics and vocals ... That's when the block came in. So I started to sing a poorly translated version of George Michael's famous line in serbo-croatian, a version I was teasing my girlfriend with the whole previous day. Do you remember those summer nights so hot that air is absolutely static as if it just hung there and the molecular structure of objects is disintegrating in a nocturnal meltdown and all is just sweaty and sultry and you wish Miles Davis was on the opposite balcony playing your favorite tune when you slip between your favorite thighs? Since today is a very special day, celebrating what women have achieved with grace and honor throughout our history, no gentleman shouldn't refrain from congratulating you from the heart! So I raise a glass and my voice to your beauty, wit, graciousness, struggle and your special love. Concerning the (obviously unfinished) song and the photo to it - last week some of us creative directors were invited to participate in a sort of a Mad Men editorial for magazine MODNA, which took place at the beautiful Vila Bled, once Marshall Tito's residence. While I was waiting for my turn I discovered this beautiful old grand piano resting in one of vila's tremendeous rooms and while playing it I came up with this song. Anyway, enjoy your day, dearest ladies.

Since this has been an awfully stressful week I just had to finish a song! And it's origin is quite stressful itself, because in the night after playing my old Ensoniq ASR 10 keyboard I too rarely turn on and after finding one really fat sound to record the basic phrase with, a filter cap loosened on the washing machine in the next room, so my and my brother's music room in Prekmurje got severely flooded. After drying the place up and getting back to the song, Ensoniq was coughing up some strange noise, so I had to record with Micro Korg that has really, really small keys. You're probably wondering why I'm gathering all this trivia - because of the quick chord progression probably there are some diminished ghost notes there, that shouldn't be and the sound isn't as fat as it should be. :) But then again, who gives a damn. This multilayered synth confession was lying around for a quite some time now and with my own crooning it made no particular sense apart from being an ok sketch. Finally Mirna had enough time to stop by my apartment on her way from Klagenfurt jazz university to her weekend (p)arty town of choice Maribor and bring the lyrics to life in her particularly sensual way. The summer is finally here! So why not celebrate it with an easy going no-brainer tune? Apart from the decadently noir photo I took after a decadent summer party at my friend's house last summer there is nothing downtempo about the composition.
